In 2005 I was introduced to a gentleman named Ivory Mitchel who taught me all the ins and outs of personal and business credit. With his training I was able to start my own business and enhance my own personal credit. Unfortunately, a few years later he passed away and I was completely lost. I went back into the corporate world and continued down the path of trying to move up the corporate ladder. Soon after I reached the District Manager position with the company that I had dedicated all of my life to decide to close their doors. At this moment I had great credit, a new car, a new apartment and a stack of bills. After putting in applications I soon realized I would not be able to secure a career in the same field for the same pay without putting in another 10 years of hard work. 

So I did what every consumer does when they lose their job; I applied for more credit cards and loans. After being approved I had almost $100k to use until another job came along; this is where the complacency set in. I stopped looking for work. I started going out more with friends and family. About six months later I only had $30k left of my borrowed money and I started to panic. I started my own business hoping to dig myself out of debt and within three months I was broke. Two months later my credit report was filled with late payments. Nobody wanted to hire me and the eviction notice was already on my apartment door.
